Why Sandy Bay Specifically?

Sandy Bay Green Land

Sandy Bay and the bowl area is one of Porthcawl's last remaining pieces of green land right on the beach front. With so much available, free land available on the outskirts of Porthcawl, what could be the motivation to destroy this green land to build an approximately 1,000 houses there?

Is it because those houses will sell for more profit because they are meters away from the beach?

How does this benefit the people of Porthcawl?

The Location Logic Gap

BCBC have proposed themselves that they could use the Donkey Field by Zig Zag lane as an overflow carpark (over 30 minutes walk away from the town center), surely it makes more sense to build the new housing estate there.

Based on BCBC's own report, Salt Lake Car Park has capacity for 1,330 cars. The current plans aim to remove this and update downgrade the infrastructure to just 650 spaces.

01. Grossly Excessive Housing

BCBC have said that there are 280 families in need of immediate housing. The survey shows the people of Porthcawl want less than 500 houses. So why are BCBC insisting on building over three times as many as needed by families or wanted by the town? And more worryingly... why are they so insistent on building the houses on some of Porthcawl's most special and precious land?

Our largest capacity car park that holds 1,300 cars regularly overflows, causing chaos. Why does the regeneration committee believe it is a good idea to reduce the town's parking by over 50% to just 650 spaces?

With 85% of residents fearing health services will collapse, where is the concrete plan to support 3,000+ new residents when existing GP surgeries are already at breaking point and unable to offer appointments?

05. Environmental Impact

The public loves our sea, yet 87% fear increased sewage issues. Why proceed with high-density housing that adds massive pressure to a failing system that already discharges waste into our coastline?
